If you are a fan of vehicle modification, than carbon fiber hood designs are your best option. Installation of this hood shouldn’t be too difficult: if you have a bit of interest and you have handled tools before you will be able to learn this easily.

Installing Carbon Fiber Hood

When it comes to this kind of installation, beginners should go through the entire procedure first and read it a couple of times, and also see if they need any additional tools that they don’t have with them. For the real motor-heads out there though, you should get the hang of this in not time.

Step 1: Remove the windshield washer jets.

Step 2: Unclip or unscrew the jets by disconnecting the tubing that runs to them.

Step 3: Remove the light attached to the hood for reuse later.

Step 4: Use a hood prop to prop the hood up.

Step 5: There will be four bolts holding the hood to the hinges that you will have to remove.

Step 6: Gas shocks should be removed before hinge bolts removal.

Step 7: In order to eliminate the danger of harming the windshield support or fenders you need to support the weight of the hood during the bolt removal.

Step 8: The heavy factory hood will be freed up when the gas shocks and hinges are unbolted.

Step 9: Pull it away from the windshield to carefully remove it and set aside.

Step 10:  The carbon fiber hood should be put into place at this point.

Step 11: Line up and tighten the bolts on the hinges.

Step 12: The gas shocks should be reattached and the hood prop should be set.

Step 13: Windshield washer jets should be reattached.

Step 14: Reattach the light you saved earlier with 3M adhesive double sided tape or by screwing it in.

Step 15: Check for alignment after closing the carbon fiber hood.

Step 16: Lift carbon fiber hood and loosen hinge bolts a little to adjust the alignment.

Step 17: You can now lower the fiber hood and make adjustments if applicable.

Step 18: Loosen the bolts on the hood latch receiver to get the front of the hood lower.

Step 19: For gaps greater on one side, loosen the fender and adjust it.

Step 20: Some additional adjustments may still be needed because all cars are going to be a little different which shouldn’t be difficult.

Enjoy your new lighter and fabulous carbon fiber hood!
