Frequently Asked Questions
What are the specs for 3D carbon fiber vinyl?3D carbon fiber vinyl is 0.2mm thick PVC vinyl film with an adhesive back. The adhesive has a series of very small air channels running through it allowing for a bubble free dry application. It is available in four different colors and is suitable for interior and exterior application. Designed to be applied to any smooth surface and when heated using a heat gun the film becomes extremely pliable allowing it to be laid down around compound curves and into convex shapes using some simple stretching techniques.

What colors is it available in?Currently it's available in white carbon fiber, black carbon fiber, red carbon fiber and orange carbon fiber colors. The carbon fiber weave pattern is exactly the same shape and size on all different colors.

How can I get a sample? Our carbon fiber vinyl sample kit sales for $4.95 and consists of a single 4" x 8" vinyl sheet. You can select from the black, white, red or orange color options.

How much material do I need?Correct measurements are extremely important for the amount of material you would need for a project. We recommend using a soft measuring tape to measure the width and length of the surface area where you will be installing the carbon fiber film. Make sure to take into account any areas with compound or convex curves into your measurements. Also make sure to add a few extra inches of bleed to your measurement as a precaution.
Measure the width of the surface area and add about an extra 2" - 4" of bleed to each side. Please note that the front width of the roof is larger than the back width of the roof. Always make sure to measure the largest of the two widths.

Measure the length of the surface area and add about an extra 2" - 4" of bleed to each side. Please note that the center length is larger than the side length of the roof. Always make sure to measure the largest of the two lengths.
Is it car wash safe and can it be used outdoors?3D carbon fiber wrapping film is made from premium automotive grade PVC vinyl, designed for indoor or outdoor use. Vinyl film is car wash safe but care should be taken not to use any abrasive waxes, polishes or pads so not to scratch the material. We recommend hand washing for optimal results. Please allow 24 hours for the adhesive to cure from the date of installation before washing for the first time.
What is the life expectancy of the material?3D carbon fiber has a 12 year indoor and 4 year outdoor life expectancy. There are no manufacturer warranties offered on the film after it has been installed since installation technique and surface type play a big roll on the life and quality of the application. Even though these cases are very rare we will replace any damaged caused during shipping or defected material before film application.
How do I prep the surface area before installation? The first step to cleaning is to remove all of the dirt and grime with a commercial detergent and water. NOTE: If the vehicle taken to the car wash, it is important to make sure the vehicle is completely dry before applying the carbon fiber vinyl sticker. This may mean allowing the vehicle to dry indoors overnight before applying.
If grease, oil, wax, or other contaminants are present, wipe the substrate with a solvent such as Prep-Sol or Xylol.
Then do a final cleaning with 70% isopropyl rubbing alcohol to make sure that no oily residue from the other solvents is left behind.
Important: Prior to utilizing any solvent on the vehicle, make sure to check within an hidden area to be sure the synthetic cleaning agent won't harm the vehicle's paint.
When cleaning the surface area with rubbing alcohol, use two lint free towels. One particular towel must be soaked with rubbing alcohol, that is utilized to release and clean away the contaminants (tar, dirt, wax, etc.). The 2nd towel needs to be dry and used to clean away the excess remaining rubbing alcohol before it has a opportunity to evaporate. Additionally it is essential to pay special attention to cleaning the cracks and crevices of your vehicle wherever contaminants usually accumulate. For these particular areas, wrap an rubbing alcohol soaked towel all around a squeegee to get into the cracks.
What's the optimal temperature for application? The Surface Temperature must be between 60°F and 90°F, with 70°F to 80°F being the ideal range. Whenever possible, try to apply carbon fiber vinyl indoors in a controlled environment. This helps control the temperature and will also reduce the amount of wind, dust and other contaminants.
Is it removable and how do I remove it?3D carbon fiber vinyl is removable and in most cases will not damage any OEM factory vehicle paint. Other surfaces such as walls and wood furniture can be damaged during removal. The Surface Temperature must be between 60°F and 90°F, with 70°F to 80°F being the ideal range. We recommend using a heat gun or a hair dryer to heat up the material as it is being removed. Once removed any remaining adhesive residue can be cleaned off using any citrus based adhesive remover such as Grafix Gone.
